After battling what turned out to be pneumonia for almost the entire month, I was finally back to work and back on my feet. Thank god I can finally get back in the water.

I got to the steps at about 6ish, and the water was all the way down. The runs and seams were all visible, and there was a lot of surface activity. There were a few bait fishermen around, and I sat for a few minutes to see how they were doing. Nothing. Good news, the chips should fall in my favor. The usual approach was a clouser, and I threw one for about the first hour, and lost a few rainbows. There was still a lot of rises, so I sent the clouser to the box and brought the Parachute Adams out for a bit. It didn’t take long to get action on that, and the second fish I hooked up with was a heavy rainbow that I got close, but he wanted that fly more than I did. With that being the only Para Adams I had, it was either walk back to the truck for more, or start throwing soft hackles. The latter turned out to be the right choice. I was able to get a dozen feisty rainbows out of the run before heading downstream.

Not much going on at the bluffs, the feeding was slowing down. The herons were doing all the fishing now, and some bats had come out too. I had a few strikes, but nothing crazy. All I could think about was cold weather and streamers for some reason….. Come on fall and winter!
