On Monday, October 19th Molly and I did a  trip down the Penobscot River with Kevin Mckay of Maine Fishing Adventures   After a few days of rough weather and snow on Sunday night, we knew the fishing would be tough.IMG_2167

Luckiest man alive – wife enjoys the sport too!

We still made the best of it, catching a few bass and Pickerel. Making the transition from trout to bass is tough, and it’s much harder than you think to change hook sets from the trout technique of raising the rod tip to the strip set for fishing bass on streamers as well as saltwater species. We had an awesome day,  and had a blast fishing with Kevin. Molly got to do battle with a smallmouth on a fly rod, and I seemed to be on a Pickerel streak, but hey, each one was bigger than the next, and that’s a good problem to have in fishing.

If a trip to Maine is in your future, I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to fish with Kevin Mckay, whether it be trout and salmon or smallmouth, you will learn a lot from a great guide and leave Maine with an experience to remember.
